Frequently Asked Questions
What is Lightning Challenge?
Lightning Challenge is a practice platform for Salesforce developers. You solve Apex and Lightning Web Component (LWC) coding challenges, get graded automatically, and earn points on a leaderboard. There is a new daily challenge every day, plus guided lessons and Platform Developer I (PD1) exam prep.
Who is it for?
Salesforce developers at any level: admins moving into code, developers preparing for the PD1 certification, and experienced developers getting ready for interviews or keeping their Apex skills sharp. It is not a fit for admin-only (no-code) training.
How do I sign up?
Go to https://lightningchallenges.com/register and sign up with your email and a password, or continue with Google. Email sign-ups get a verification link; click it to activate your account. The Free plan needs no credit card.
What happens after I sign up?
You land on your Today dashboard at https://lightningchallenges.com/home, which shows the daily challenge, your points and streak, and a starter challenge. The starter challenge opens with a short guided tour of the code editor, the tests, and how to connect a free Salesforce Developer Edition org to run Apex. LWC challenges run in the browser with no org. From there you can browse all challenges at https://lightningchallenges.com/challenge or follow a learning path at https://lightningchallenges.com/lessons.
How much does it cost?
The Free plan costs $0 with no credit card. The Pro plan ("Bolt") costs $6.99/month or $69/year. See https://lightningchallenges.com/pricing for current prices and a full Free-vs-Pro comparison.
What does the Free plan include?
Daily Apex challenges, points and the leaderboard, limited help from Wally (the AI assistant), and starter lessons and community challenges.
What does Pro add?
Premium challenges, official solutions, the full LWC challenge track, the PD1 certification prep path, integration practice scenarios, and unlimited Wally AI help.
Is there a free trial?
There is no time-limited trial. The Free plan never expires, so you can practice as long as you like before deciding to upgrade.
How do I cancel, and do you offer refunds?
Cancel anytime from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you then move to the Free plan. You can request a refund within 7 days of your first subscription payment; there are no refunds for partial billing periods after that. Full details are in the Terms of Service.
Do I need a Salesforce org?
For Apex challenges, yes: you connect a free Salesforce Developer Edition org or Trailhead Playground and your code runs there. LWC challenges compile and run in your browser, so they need no org.
Does it help with the Platform Developer I (PD1) exam?
Yes. Pro includes a PD1 prep path with hands-on challenges aligned to the exam topics. Lightning Challenge is a practice tool and is not affiliated with Salesforce.
Is there an API or integration?
Lightning Challenge is a learning platform and does not offer a public API. For partnerships or custom team plans, email support@lightningchallenges.com.
How do I contact support?
Email support@lightningchallenges.com. We usually reply within two business days.
