Find the maximum value in a list of integers.
Examples:
Input: numbers = [1, 5, 3, 9, 2]
Output: 9
Explanation: The largest number in the list is 9.
Input: numbers = [-1, -5, -2]
Output: -1
Explanation: The largest number among negative values is -1.
Input: numbers = [42]
Output: 42
Explanation: When there is only one number, that number is the maximum.
