Call a product API to retrieve products for a given category. Return an empty list when the category is null or blank. The API endpoint is /api/products?category={category} and returns JSON with a products array containing objects with id, name, and price fields.
Examples:

// Results: List of product maps from API response
List<Map<String, Object>> empty = fetchCategoryProducts(null);
// Results: []
